Our Exterior Painting Process

Our step-by-step exterior painting process ensures great long-lasting results and protects your entire home from possible water intrusion. You’ll enjoy great curb appeal with a new coating and commercial-grade water-resistant protection. Here’s an overview of the steps we take on every exterior house painting project.

Step 1: Surface Preparation

First, we make a trench around the house. This allows us to apply a waterproof paint on the foundation for extra water protection. We then pressure wash the exterior of your home to remove all dirt, debris, and mold. Some homes may require a more delicate preparation process so in those cases we’ll hand wash the exterior instead of using a pressure washer.

Next, we scrape off any loose paint and prepare and glossy surfaces areas by scuffing or sanding them to ensure the paint will adhere to the surface. From there, we seal all openings to the exterior of your home, including door frames, exterior walls, and window frames. If you have a stucco home, we seal any cracks with an elastomeric compound. If there is any rust, we’ll treat and care for those areas as well.

Finally, we cover any sidewalks, patios, decks, windows, or shrubs that could potentially get paint on them.

Our goals with this first step are to ensure all surface areas are fully prepped for maximum adhesion of the exterior paint, and to make sure we’ve sealed as many areas as possible where water may leak into the home. This first step is critical because it is the foundation of our exterior painting project that ensures the house can withstand any rain the Trinity, FL weather can throw at it, and it ensure the completed exterior painting job looks fresh and new for years to come.

Step 2: Applying the Primer Coat

We apply a sealant as a primer to protect from any water intrusion. This primer coat also ensures a uniform finish of the exterior paint itself.

Step 3: Exterior Painting

Now it’s time to apply the exterior painting coat. Step 4: Cleaning

We are extremely picky, and we treat your Trinity home as if it were our own. Once our exterior painting project is completed, we don’t want any traces that we were even there in the first place! We do a thorough cleaning around the exterior of your home removing any paint chips or debris. Then we pack up all our materials.

If your project takes more than one day to complete, which most of our projects do because we typically do whole house exterior painting projects, we pack up all of our materials and equipment at the end of each day so you’re not tripping over all of our things. Then we bring everything out again at the beginning of the next day.

Step 5: Final Inspection

Every exterior house painting project has a job supervisor that the homeowner works with throughout the project. When the project is completed, the homeowner and the job supervisor inspect all areas that were painted to ensure the homeowner is completely satisfied. If there are any problems or concerns, they are immediately addressed. We don’t consider a job complete until the homeowner is completely satisfied.
