Here is an overview of the steps we take on each of our exterior house painting projects.
Step 1: Surface preparation
First, we create a trench around the perimeter of your home. This will let us apply our waterproof paints to your foundation, allowing you to enjoy additional protection from the elements. We then pressure wash or hand wash your home’s exterior, as appropriate. This is to remove dirt and mildew.
After that, it’s time to scrape off loose paint and scuff any glossy areas. From there, we’ll caulk every gap in your home’s exterior, including door frames, fascia and window frames. If you have a stucco home, we’ll patch any cracks or weaknesses with an elastomeric compound. If we see any rust, we’ll get those areas treated and taken care of as well.
We want to make sure we’re sealing out moisture right from the start, protecting your home against even the very worst storms the Clearwater weather can throw at it.
Finally, we cover all your walkways, windows and shrubs so they can’t be damaged by the paint job.
Step 2: The Primer Coat
The primer coat ensures you receive a uniform finish.
We choose a sealant for this coat of paint, ensuring that water stays outside your home where it belongs.
Step 3: Painting
Time for the finish coat.

Step 4: Cleaning
This is more of an ongoing step, as our crew cleans as they go. At the end of every day, we remove paint chips, pack up materials, and store them neatly until it’s time to pull them out again.
On the final day, we’ll give this task extra attention, ensuring we remove all traces of our presence (except the job well done, of course).
Step 5: Inspection
The job supervisor you’ve been working with during the exterior house painting project now takes you around the entire job. If you see problems or have concerns, he’ll address them. We won’t consider the job complete until we’ve exceeded your expectations.
